In this article, Joe Palca states how we should know when experimental drugs might be working. Trump has made a claim that people can survived the virus and due to the clinic trails it might not be possible for others to do so their selves. According to the article, “Although this woman didn’t get worse after taking the drug, some people might. Without controlled clinical trials, it’s not possible to know. Another question: Would the woman have gotten better, or worse, if she had taken the drug earlier in the course of her disease?” There are risks for people taking the drug but due to it will take months or even weeks to confirm it safety for people it is highly risky and dangerous. Due to the deaths that COVID-19 has caused the government had setup ways for families to received money and support. According to the article, ” The emergency cash assistance program is funded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and provides two monthly cash payments to approved families depending on their size:
• $500 for a household of 1 to 2 persons.
• $750 for a household of 3 to 4 persons.
• $1000 for a household with 5 or more persons.
This benefits the unemployment rate, so even when they don’t have a job they will still be able to support their families. There are problems with the supplies that many hospital are having difficult getting. According to the article, “President Trump says the federal government’s procurement and distribution of vital medical supplies to fight COVID-19 is “a fine-tuned machine,” but many hospitals and state governors say they’re still struggling to get what they need.” There are not much that can be done and as Honoré stated the solution will not be coming from the federal government on the issue.
